Now’s the time to Say Yes to Autumn adventures on the Isle
of Wight, and here’s your opportunity to make them walking ones!
After a successful Spring event in May, the award-winning Autumn Walking Festival is up next, spanning nine
days and taking place from Saturday 7 – Sunday 15 October. With over 70 guided
walks scheduled, there’s some old favourites returning and some new additions
on offer.
Whether you enjoy a light stroll, are looking for your next
heart-racing challenge or after a new destination to discover, take inspiration
from the locals sharing their favourite routes and special places.
Back by popular
demand… join the IW Steam Railway to ‘Walk the Line’
or trek with Camp Wight 5.5 miles around the Western Headland of Newtown Creek.
Or looking for
something more leisurely, join Naturezones on one of their specialist wildlife walks, create colourful memories in your
sketchbook whilst walking the coastal path with Lucia Para’s ‘Arty Walk’ or head to Fort
Victoria to join a family-friendly Rock Pooling and
Fossil Hunting walk or join their ranger to find our more about the once impressive fort
complex.
There’s more history
walks taking place across the Island; from Dickens themed trails
around Bonchurch to guided walks around Northwood and Ryde Cemeteries.
The Cats Protection IOW Adoption Centre takes walkers on a relaxed seaside
stroll or
help to preserve the Island’s beauty on one of the leisurely litter picks on offer.
New themed walks for Autumn include the Grade 2 walking tour
of Ryde, where you can find out more about the Isle of Wight’s most successful
punk band, or enjoy the views of Shanklin and Sandown
Bay
while re-enacting a small piece of theatre history, hosted by the Friends of
Shanklin Theatre. |
